Our client is a premier custom residential design-build firm recognized for creating exceptional luxury homes throughout Southeastern Wisconsin. Their collaborative approach integrates architecture, interior design, and construction expertise to deliver highly personalized residences tailored to each client's vision and lifestyle.

 

Due to continued growth, they are seeking a Lead Architectural Drafter to provide technical leadership, oversee construction documentation, and support the successful execution of high-end custom residential projects.

 

Position Summary

The Lead Architectural Drafter will serve as a key member of the design team, responsible for developing and coordinating detailed construction documents for luxury custom homes. This role combines technical expertise, project coordination, and leadership while working closely with architects, designers, and construction professionals throughout the project lifecycle.

 

The ideal candidate is passionate about residential architecture, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering exceptional design documentation that supports outstanding craftsmanship in the field.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation and coordination of construction documents for custom residential projects.
  • Develop detailed drawing sets from schematic design through construction.
  • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and quality across all project documentation.
  • Establish and maintain drafting standards, templates, and best practices.
  • Coordinate drawings with architects, interior designers, structural engineers, and construction personnel.
  • Review plans for constructability, code compliance, and design intent.
  • Mentor and support junior drafting and design team members.
  • Participate in project meetings and collaborate on technical solutions.
  • Conduct field verification and site measurements as needed.
  • Manage multiple projects while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.

Job Requirements

Required

  • 5+ years of architectural drafting experience focused on residential projects.
  • Advanced proficiency in Revit.
  • Experience producing complete construction document packages for custom homes.
  • Strong understanding of residential construction methods, materials, and detailing.
  • Ability to interpret and coordinate architectural, structural, and building system drawings.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Preferred

  • Degree in Architectural Technology, Architecture, Drafting, or related field.
  • Experience with luxury custom residential design.
  • Prior leadership, mentoring, or project coordination responsibilities.
  • Familiarity with Wisconsin residential building codes and permitting requirements.
  • Experience working within a design-build environment.
