Overview:
A respected, family oriented heavy civil construction contractor is seeking a Director of Safety to lead company-wide safety initiatives and champion a proactive safety culture. This individual will partner closely with executive leadership and field operations to ensure safety remains at the forefront of every project and process.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Champion and strengthen the organization’s culture of safety, quality, and efficiency across all departments.
  • Lead and mentor the safety team to uphold consistent standards and compliance.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve safety programs, policies, and training.
  • Partner with operations and field leadership to proactively identify and resolve potential hazards.
  • Review and analyze safety metrics, trends, and incidents to drive data-based improvements.
  • Conduct impactful training, communication, and awareness initiatives to engage employees.
  • Visit active job sites to support field teams and ensure safe operations.
  • Travel as needed to various company locations and project sites.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive safety experience in heavy civil construction.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead safety programs, develop staff, and influence culture.
  • Certifications such as CHST, CRIS, or SMS preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
